Once again my aging memory failed me, so Wayne Eng and I fished all afternoon in the rain without a camera, or a single photograph to show for it.

And thus, another artist’s rendering is born:

Rainy Day on the Upper Sacramento River drawing
We fished in the rain, but with few exceptions, the trout laughed at our soggy flies.

We tried to scout new BWO water, but found few bugs, and no rising fish.

In the end, Wayne pounded up a nice 14″ fish to a big dry, and I hooked and lost a beautiful rainbow on a small nymph, then missed his cousin on the next drift.

In the end, we got wet, saw some river I hadn’t seen in years, and generally had the still-amazing time you always have when few fish are on the agenda.

There’s more fishing coming up soon, but first, I’m going to go open some presents.

Merry Christmas from the Underground!
