When your back is sore from shoveling snow and your last walk with Wally the Wonderdog found you plowing through five inches of powder snow (the Wonderdog loves snow – he’s a powder pup for sure), then you can say that winter’s officially arrived.

A walk with the Wonderdog. Photo by Tom. Snow & sunset colors by God.
For many, it’s time to settle in and start tying flies, but ever since the Upper Sacramento was opened to year-round fishing, my fly boxes have slowly emptied.
It’s a busy week, but fishing is hardly out of the question. More snow coming today. More clouds later this week. And more to come on the Underground!

Wow! I love that photo! Snowscapes make for wonderful photographic opportunities. I wish you were capable of enjoying a nice cup of coffee to ward off the cold.

No snow today down canyon. Ran out for a short bit to the mid river area. A few BWO’s coming off and a few fish working very sporadically. Managed to get a couple little guys on a BWO parachute but the nice fish of the day took a micromay dropper under a stimmy. No pic so you just have to take my word for the size. it was gigantic, abolutley huge, enormous even.
BTW snow stops at about Flume Creek.

Oh, that’s what happened! I was wondering what the h*ll happened to the winter here in Finland. Now I gather that it has figured out a way to the California…

As always another outstanding photo. TC got the last of the major book shelfs done in the tying room one final light/fan, to go up and have the elec. signed off and it will be moving in day. Then we will have a tying room to a gatheing at.

Awesome photo! It has been in the high 70’s here in the Carolinas all week. That photo makes me wish for snow!

Thanks for the nice words. I noticed Townsend’s forecast was 71 degrees, and Finland’s forecast was also overwarm.
Still, you can’t blame California (though that’s never stopped anyone from trying). It’s a little cold here today (shouldn’t get above freezing), but not insanely so for this time of year.
We typically get one good snowfall around thanksgiving to fire up all the skiers, then nothing until the Holidays. It’s almost sad watching their hopes wilt.
Still, it’s plenty fishable. But sadly, there’s work to be done…

One of my favorite photos yet of yours! I can’t wait for the first snow here in Virginia…
