Legal Case of EXTREME Importance to all Animal Lovers…
By Tom Chandler on Nov 18, 2006 in News, Underground Entertainment
Here at the Trout Underground, we leave no stone unturned in our search for legal matters of interest to our readers.
In this case, Fly Fishing Yellowstone stumbled across a pivotal criminal case where a man is facing charges for having sex with… a dead deer. (No, still not making it up):
From the Retread Ranger site (his incisive legal commentary alone is worth a visit):
Duluth News-Tribune, Nov. 16, 2006:
Prosecution of a Douglas County case involving alleged sexual contact with a dead deer may hinge on the legal definition of the word “animal.”
Bryan James Hathaway, 20, of Superior faces a misdemeanor charge of sexual gratification with an animal. He is accused of having sex with a dead deer he saw beside Stinson Avenue on Oct. 11.
“Sure,” you say. “He’s one of those dead deer molesters and the most I ever do is maybe kiss a trout on the lips.”
“What does this have to do with me?”
Well, plenty my friend. First they take away our right to molest dead dear. Next thing you know, you’re being prosecuted for Creating a Hostile Fishing Experience when all you’ve done is give that hen rainbow a little pat on the flank when you released her.
It’s a slippery slope straight to hell my friends, and the Trout Underground’s determined to keep you current. See you at the Supreme Court, Tom Chandler.

Your use of the phrase “Animal Lovers” in the title is frighteningly ambigious.
