Voting Day. I Vote We All Go Fishing.

by Tom Chandler on November 7, 2006

Don't Tread on Me

It’s election day, and with some of the most underhanded, nastiest campaign tactics ever employed now safely behind us (we hope), it’s time to cast your ballot.

But what comes after?

Sag into the couch and watch the broadcast networks’ World Championship Bloviating Teams pontificate endlessly? Endlessly read stories about misleading voter suppression tactics and illegal campaign calls?

I say no! I say it’s a fishing day. In the finest traditions of our founding fathers, I believe election day should be a national holiday, and once you vote, you should have free reign over the rest of the time.

Those that don’t vote are sentenced to go to work.

Seems equitable to me.

Of course, some will suspect this is just the first salvo in the Underground’s 2008 Presidential Bid.

If a “Fly Rod in Every Trunk” is what takes to get elected, then sure - I’m your man.

Vote Underground in 2008!

Best idea I’ve heard all week.
