A few months ago I noticed that several fly fishing bloggers were including striking photos of striking women (in striking outfits) holding fish, and dubbed it the “Bikini Wars.”
Months later, the war continues to rage among certain bloggers, who apparently can read and have noticed exceptionally high traffic rates when the wars rage on their site.
Naturally, the Trout Underground rose above the fray (especially when Moldy Chum apparently won the fight with their star-spangled salute to bonefish), occupying the moral high ground and operating on a much higher plane of existence, but the provocation continued.
We expect such juvenile antics from those traffic-hungry smut peddlers at Moldy Chum and GetOutdoors, but even A Step Apart got in on the action (so to speak), stealing a few minutes from her exhaustive survey of Yellowstone Geology to strike a blow for gender equality in the bikini wars.
War is never pretty my friends, and though the battle for bikini superiority rages on other boards, I want you to know that the Trout Underground will continue to rise above the fray.
It’s my solemn vow that we will stay the course, occupying the bikini high ground and refusing to exploit fishing females, who – juding by the thousands of photographs I inspected to get a handle on this issue – are nothing more than dedicated sportspersons who want only to be left in peace to pursue their fish in a topless fashion.
Once again, the Underground has shown itself to be the moral compass of the fly fishing blogosphere, a cultural beacon burning so brightly that lesser bloggers dare not stare into its blazing white light of purity for long, risking blindness if they do.

What, none of these babes fly fishes ?
Now why the hell would I care what kind of fishing they did ?

Well, I fly fish and the problem with fishing in my bikini is that most of the rivers I fished had poison oak near them. And then of course the calamine lotion would get all over my bikini and that is not attractive. Well, maybe for those who drink Budweiser fishing on the Upper Sac. And don’t forget the blackberry thickets…ouch, that could be a pricey ER visit!

Michelle, your credentials as a fishing babe are irrefutable, and not subject to the slings and arrows of poison oak and blackberries. See you this weekend.

Most of those pics have been around for ages. The best one is still of that Slovakian girl on the Yellowstone blog. She was actually fishing with a flypole.

Well Tom, all these scantily clad women engaged in fishing reminds me a bit of a particular chapter in the book “The River Why”. The author finds himself in the eh, company of a rather attractive girl fishing for stealhead whilst nude, in the river ‘tamanawis’. Certainly got nothing to do with the naming of my own blog.

To all these, I can only say: “What scantily clad women?”
As a moral compass to the blogosphere, the Underground would never post such photos.

The problem for my husband is that I will break his chops soooo much that he will hate the site……….. and never want to go on it again. I did it years ago with regards to a fishing show that started having models in short shorts and bathsuits on it. I guess they thought it would improve ratings… how about “trying” to catch fish…… to improve ratings. LOL I broke his stones sooo bad. he would get sooo angry.. he didn’t want to see the girls. he wanted to see fishing. Needless to say………. he stopped watching their show……………. so…….. leave the girls to the girly websites, calendars, etc…. and leaving the fishing sites, and shows alone…… you never know. I may know your wife and teach her the fine art of busting your chops until YOU HATE THE SITE OR TV SHOW………………
