The Underground’s Friday Follies

by Tom Chandler on October 13, 2006 · 5 comments

It’s Friday, which means those who don’t work weekends have made it, while those who do have absolutely nothing to look forward to.

Moldy Chum bikiniWe’re starting this edition of Friday’s Underground Entertainment with yet another entry in the bikini wars from Moldy Chum (what did we start?). Never in my life have I wished I was a grouper… until now.

Our Finnish friend at Opax-Flyfishing posts a few pictures of a Finnish river that suggests Finnish rivers look a lot like everyone else’s rivers, which comforts me. I don’t know why.

Ass Hooked Whitey finds an interesting article that explores what would happen to the planet should humanity suddenly disappear. Leave me behind with the L&T Nancy and a fly rod, and it sounds pretty good to me…

For those with the ability to read a map and a hankering to see the backcountry, MyOutdoors.net has a very cool map/satellite photo service that allows you to draw routes (and save them). Worth a visit!

In an obvious attempt to lure us back a second time, recently featured photographer Dan Mitchell posts a fly fishing image on his site. Worked this time…

There’s always room for another fly fishing blog on the Internet river, and today’s addition is Flyfishin’. He’s posted a few salmon and steelhead stories, so don’t miss ‘em.

More later. Next week? Some longer articles guaranteed to draw some comments from readers (always welcome). Until then, see you in the backcountry, Tom Chandler.

Much better…bikini wise at least. And that article about the end of humanity was cool. However, I found the most interest in the Chinese execution of Tibetans; that ought to pique the interest of some of my upperclassmen should they press me for a news article. (they frequently do!)

You guys *do* realize that the picture’s not going to change no matter how long you stare at it, right?

Too bad that there isn’t any camera information for this photograph. I would be interested in the type of camera used, lens, exposure, time of day, location and the phone number…
