That great big ball of fire…

Looking up in the sky reveals something rarely seen lately at Trout Underground World Headquarters - the sun. Apparently the turtle who carries the fiery ball across the sky has returned after a couple months partying in Cabo, though he’s due to start another vacation this weekend.

Clearly, the reptilian work ethic leaves a lot to be desired.

Steve Bertrand called in a search of a fishing partner to Baum Lake, but with two projects nearing completion and two more being moved to the (very, very hot) front burner, I have to be content with writing a fishing report for a river which has dropped significantly from its high of 15,000 cfs to 8,400 cfs - but is still largely unfishable.

Friday’s also jammed with work-related activity designed to keep me out of bankruptcy court (just barely), but this weekend signals the arrival of Underground Reader Greg, who is bringing a couple new bamboo rods (including a prototype taper from AJ Thramer). We’ll end up fishing, though I’m not at all sure where.

In the meantime, today’s Underground Entertainment includes hard-hitting scientific news from Underground Reader Mitch White about 500 million year-old fossilized worm feces (we’re not even going to ask why Mitch was reading this in the first place), and a couple winners from Moldy Chum, including one about anglers blowing up the train they were riding on (with dynamite destined for fish in the river) and a thought-provoking look at fly fishing for chickens - something that would have held no interest for me prior to our long, long winter. See you at the hen house, Tom Chandler
